The role of our feelings is to act as messengers, guiding us towards a fuller, more vibrant life. They help us understand what is best for us, create meaning in our lives, and motivate us to make positive changes. By giving ourselves the space to feel and listening to their wisdom, we can begin to move towards the life we truly desire. In my therapeutic approach, I aim to co-create a compassionate and safe environment where clients can explore their unconscious feelings, long-standing beliefs, and untapped wisdom. Through the use of Core Energetics, a body-oriented modality developed by Dr. John Pierrakos, clients are encouraged to experience their capacity for aliveness by physically moving blocked energy and allowing for insight and consciousness to unfold. Together, we will work towards unleashing your full potential and create a space where you feel comfortable to explore your deepest emotions. My ultimate goal is to empower you to lead the life you truly want to lead.
Psychodrama, developed by J.L. Moreno almost a century ago, is a psychotherapeutic method that offers clients the opportunity to rehearse new and more positive roles and behaviors in a supportive environment. It can be especially beneficial in areas of trauma and addiction. Trauma often leaves individuals feeling stuck in a freeze response, and action-based methods like Psychodrama allow clients to act out personal scenarios from their lives, working through any frozen areas of the past or present. Clients can try on new ways of being, express words that were once silenced, and take action where they once felt incapacitated. This leads to a sense of empowerment, an expanded sense of self, and a feeling of completion. Ultimately, Psychodrama serves as a rehearsal for life, helping clients to integrate new skills and behaviors into their everyday lives.
Mindfulness, according to Jon Kabat-Zinn, Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is defined as "paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally." By incorporating mindfulness practices into our sessions, you will develop a heightened awareness of your thoughts, sensations, and feelings. Focused breathing is a valuable tool we utilize to mindfully connect with the present moment, allowing for a clearer perspective. Breathwork also helps to dissolve any barriers that may inhibit our aliveness. Through energizing the breath, we can increase vitality, or by slowing down inhalation and exhalation, we can invite ease and relaxation into the body. Within a secure and supportive environment, we will explore breath and mindfulness techniques that will help you deepen your connection with yourself and others.
